William R. Bradford was born February 11th, 1942 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri to William A. Bradford and Juanita (Woods) Bradford.
The family moved to Kansas City in 1945 and resided in the Plaza.
William received his education at Westport High School where he lettered in Basketball, Football, and Track. And participated in the school Choir and Band until his graduation in 1960. In recent years, William was recognized as one of "Westport's unsung heroes of sports" for lettering in more than one sport, which was rare at the time.
William began work for the General Motors Corporation in 1962 as an assembly worker until he was promoted to the position of Union Benefits Representative for the United Auto Workers (UAW), William was affectionately known as "Billy Brad" by his friends and coworkers whose benefits he serviced. Which he won awards for excellent service until his retirement in 1993.
William met Patricia A. Cooper in 1962 and the two married in 1963 and a son was born from the union, Min. Troy J. Bradford in December of 1964.
William was an active sportsman through his life participating in Baseball, Softball, Bowling, Fishing and Hunting. Unfortunately, illnesses prevented William from doing the activities that brought him joy later in his life.
William leaves to mourn his memory, his son Min. Troy J. Bradford; his half brother Byron L. Edwards Sr., a host of nephews and grand nieces; family and friends.
Internment Graveside services will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery May15th at 11 :00 a.m. Services coordinated by Lawrence A. Jones.
