Tawana Williams, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on February 2, 2021, at Delmar Gardens in Lenexa, Kansas. Tawana was born on March 1, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, to her loving parents Robert and Marcella Cooper Sr. Her parents, three brothers, Robert, Cortez, and Darnell, preceded her in death.In 1969 Tawana married Cullen Landis Jr., and from that union, three children were born, Rochelle, Tamara, and Cullen III. Years later, in 1997, Tawana married Willie L. Williams. Willie preceded her in death.Tawana was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri.
She was a hairstylist for over 25 years and was beloved by her colleagues and clients who appreciated her outgoing personality, beautiful smile, and unique and stylish fashion.Tawana was a very strong-willed, straightforward, and feisty woman known for her generous spirit and erce dedication to those she loved. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing, listening to music, playing cards and dominoes, decorating, reading, and shopping at thrift stores to add to her outstanding collection of giraffes and costume jewelry. Tawana also loved to write, and she created a book of quotes from her childhood called Things My Mother Said…Quotes to live by.
Tawana accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and enjoyed attending church and Bible studies. She was most recently a member of This Rock Christian Tabernacle Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
Tawana leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Rochelle Caruthers (Chris), Tamara Roberts (Daniel), Cullen Landis III (Ebony); two sisters, Evangelist Darlene Hatch (Andy) and Yvette Saffold; one brother, DeVille Cooper; nine grandchildren, Melanie (Tanisha), Mechelle, Clevon III, Danielle, Daniel Jr., Cunisha, Aundre (Dayauna), Cullen IV, and Kayla; nine great-grandchildren Ciraya, Cobe, Cyree, Mya, Mercy, Zion, Zamir, Calli, CJ, and a host of extended family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 9th at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver Blvd KCMO 64130. Visitation 10am. Interment Twelve Gates Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
