RUTH AUSTIN ISAAC

 Ruth Austin Isaac was born April 27th, 1929 in Elkhart, Texas to Mckenzie Hatter and Willie Bell Collie.  She was raised by her mother and stepfather Horace McKinley Austin. Ruth completed her formal education in the Dallas Public Schools, and she graduated early from Booker T. Washington High School at the age of 16 years old.  Ruth was united in marriage to Lawrence Isaac on May 1st, 1950.  They were married for 56 years until his death in 2006.  Upon moving to Kansas City in 1951, Ruth worked at Woolf Brothers department store.  In 1965 she completed her nursing studies and received her degree from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.  She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and Trinity Hospital before retiring in 1994.  As business owners, Ruth and Lawrence owned the Eastside Day Care in Kansas City from 1967-1975. Ruth professed her faith in Christ at an early age. She joined the Church of the Living God and has been a faithful member of over 60 years. She served as the Church secretary for many years. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents; and five brothers, Jack Hatter, George Hatter, Charles Hatter, Stanford Hatter, and Donald Hatter.  She leaves to cherish her memories daughter Dora Harris (William); sons Deron (Lesli), Duane (Monica); eight grandchildren, Nathan, Armon, Dashell, Veronica, Jerrell, Caleb, Erin, and Mina; two sisters Era May Howard and Betty Eldridge; one brother McKenzie Hatter Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, church family, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
