Pierre Francis Hams died in Fort Lewis, Washington on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the age of 63. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Virginia Hams, sister LaTanya Hams and brother Darryl Hams. He leaves his daughter Janeise L. Hams; sisters Yasmin Hams and Shicagolyn Hams Scroggins; Uncle Ernest Farmer; Aunts Jeanette (Prince) Howard and Cheryl Farmer. Pierre Hams also leaves two grandchildren: Mark Jr. and JaNiya; his nephews (birth order): Carlos Scroggins, Damon McMillan, William (Mary) Scroggins, Brandon Dange; and niece Krystal (Dwight) Scroggins Duperon and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pierre Hams was born December 19,1956 in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to enlisting in the US Army, Pierre attended: Annunciation Catholic School (Kansas City); Divine Heart Seminary (Donaldson, Indiana); St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri (undergraduate and law schools) and Troy University. Pierre received undergraduate degrees in Public Administration, African American Studies, Political Science and a master’s in International Studies. Hams retired from the military after completing twenty five years in the U.S. Army. During that time, he was deployed and/or stationed in: South America, Germany, Nigeria, Nairobi, Pakistan, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Yugoslavia and NATO in Italy.
The Last Vigil (wake) was held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Peters Catholic Church. A private Honorary Military burial and The Final Rite of Committal will be at Fort Leavenworth on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, 11:00 a.m.
