Otis Estell, born on May 3, 1922 in Kansas City, KS. (Quindaro) was the son of Dora Vaughn Estell and James Robert Estell. Blessed to live for 98 years, Otis was proceeded in death by his parents, seven brothers and five sisters.


Otis attended school in Kansas City, KS. Before dropping out to join the US Army and serving during WWII. He married Creasy V. Baskin and was married for 54 years. To this union four children were born. Melvin, Otis T., Daniel, and Theresa. He lived to bury his wife and 3 sons.


Being a man of great faith, Otis joined Trinity AME Church and was a member for over 70 years. He was active in the Male Chorus, the Chancel choir, Stewards, and Sons of Allen.


Otis was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and great geat grandpa. He was a simple Godfearing man who enjoyed his family, hard work, fishing, hunting, gardening, having fun and a good laugh.


Otis leaves to cherish his memory a loving dear friend of many years, Hattie Jackson; daughter, Theresa Black (William); grandsons Tracy Black, Sr. and Timothy Estell; granddaughter, Yolanda Fortin (Irvine, CA); five great grandsons, Malik AzZubair, Tracy Black, Jr., Jaudon Gaines, Xavier and Oliver Fortin (Irvin, CA); three great great grans, Aubree, Malik Jr., and Tracy III; as well as many “favorite nieces”, nephews, and extended family and friends who loved him and who will truly miss him.

Graveside Services will be held at 12PM on Monday, October 12th at Highland Park Cemetery 3801 State Ave, Kansas City, KS 66102. Visitation will be held at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Linwood Chapel 1800 E Linwood Blvd KCMO 64109 at 10AM to 11:30 AM.
