Ms. Wilma L. Taffe

Obituary

Wilma Lee Taffe was born September 10, 1935 in Kansas City, KS to Odessa H. White and Warren D. Harris. Wilma Lee Taffe was educated in Wyandotte School District and went to Kansas University of Nursing. There she started to work in the nursing department. Wilma Taffe was a very hardworking woman raising her 7 children. After several years of working at KU Medical Center, she went to Providence Hospital where she met the love of her life, Cecil Taffe. They married July 24, 1964, and , to this union, they were blessed with 2 more sons. Wilma and Cecil raised 9 children together. With the unconditional love they had for each other, Wilma Lee Taffe left Providence Hospital and started working at District 500. She later retired from the school district.

Wilma Lee Taffe was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Taffe; her mother and father; her 2 brothers, John Norman Smith, Sr. and Warren D. Harris, Jr.; and her 2 sons, Leland Floyd Dixon and Joseph Dixon. Her memories will be cherished by Noram Jean Parker (Husie) , Kansas City, KS; Joyce Osborne, Kansas City, KS; five sons, Walter Justice (Estralita) of Kansas City, KS, Calvin Dixon (Margaret) of Kansas City, KS, Terry Dixon (LaTonya) of Kansas City, KS, Cecil Maurice Taffe of Kansas City, KS, and Donald Taffe (Shelly) of Kansas City, KS; her 5 sisters, Vivian Harris, Dr. Mary McConnell, Olivia Harris, Renita Jordan, and Rachel Harris; 2 brothers, Rev. William Harris and Edward Harris, all of the Kansas City area; 50 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021, 11:00am at Roswell Church of Christ. Interment Highland Park. Visitation will be from 9:00am-11:00am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel, KS. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to COIVD-19, social distancing and face coverings are required.
