We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Missouri - Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels
On May 26, 1977, a beautiful butterfly, Tonnia Tennille Johnson was born to Margo and Samuel Johnson at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Surrounded by her loving family, Tonnia, our “Toni” or “Nia” as she was lovingly called, spread her wings and flew home to be with her Lord on June 28, 2022. She made her transition at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza.
Tonnia accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ. She also attended the Epistolic Church of God of Christ in Lee’s Summit. She graduated from high school in Clinton, Missouri. She also graduated from Concorde Career Institute as a Medical Assistant. Tonnia was a supervisor and certified Medical Technician in her profession including work at Smart Labs in Overland Park, Kansas and on Broadway in Kansas City, MO.
Well known for her Big Heart and great cooking, Tonnia loved sharing her skills and good food with family and friends. Nia loved family and was especially close to her mother Margo. She loved people and she loved having fun and laughing with them whenever she could. Toni loved butterflies - for real, as decorations, on her clothes and in her heart, and she loved the Philadelphia Eagles. She liked the Chiefs unless they were playing the Eagles. What Nia also loved was her fiancée of ten years, “Chief” Dwight Williams.
Waiting for her in Glory are her father, Samuel Johnson, and her daughter, Oni Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories and mourn her passing her mom, Margo Johnson; her fiancée Dwight Chief Williams; two brothers Jemayel Johnson and Julius Elder; Dr Carmaletta Williams, her mother-in-love; two great aunts Donna Chatman of the City and Beverly Taylor of Plano, Texas. A niece Arianna Johnson and nephew Kaden Johnson. A daughter-in-love Antoinette Jacine Williams and grandson-in-love Sage Reyes Rogers; brother in love Jason Williams. Dwight, Rhonda and Nicholas Elias. Cousins Deidre Chatman and Damon Chatman. Also mourning her passing are a special friend, Elvira Bolden of Warrensburg, MO, special friends of her family, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and loved ones.
Memorial service will be held on Sat, July 16, 2022, 1:00 pm at the Black Archives of Mid America located at 1722 E 17th Ter, Kansas City, MO 64108. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
