Ms. Sylvia Giles

February 18, 1936 ~ April 30, 2022 (age 86)


Sylvia Anita Giles was born February 18, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas to Preston and Gladys Caldwell. Whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Giles was also preceded in death by her loving husband James A. Giles, two sons Terence and Michael Giles, two brothers Donald and Preston Caldwell and her maternal and paternal grandmother and grandfather and a grandson Michael Henderson.

Sylvia attended R. T. Coles and Sumner High School. She loved doing hair, so she went to Cosmetology School and got her license but did hair in the home. She would put that bone straight press and curl down.

Sylvia held many jobs she worked in her children’s grade school cafeteria, babysat for the State of Missouri, worked in the restaurant industry, and later in a daycare.

Sylvia accepted Christ into her heart at a young age, but also studied Life Philosophies.

She loved reading and music she read everything, and her music collection included albums, cassette tapes and CD’s with all the latest hits.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory one son James A. Giles (Karen), two daughters Chonita Gantt, and Gaynelle Giles all of Kansas City, MO.

Eight grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, two nieces, a nephew, and a host of other relatives and close friends. Last but not least her loving Pomeranian Blacky.  

Funeral Service will be held the following Saturday, May 21, 2022, 2:00pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Private Disposition. Visitation will be from 1pm-2pm at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel.
