Shelia D. Crawford , 63, was born on June 5, 1959 to the union of William Crawford, Jr. and Mary Magdalene (Pendleton) Crawford in Kansas City, Missouri. Her parents, brother, Shelby Ray Crawford and son, William L. Crawford all preceded her in death.
Sheila was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools and was a graduate of Paseo High School. After high school she furthered her education and became a nurse. She worked in various hospitals throughout the city.
Sheila accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Emmanuel Baptist Church later renamed Emmanuel Church under the leadership of the late Dr. W. H. White, Sr. She moved to Minnesota for a brief period of time and while there she attended Church of The Little Flock under the leadership of the late Rev. Barbara Mason. After returning to Kansas City, she attended Sheffield Family Worship Center under Dr. George W. Westlake.
Sheila was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and aunt who enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Like other members of the family they always enjoyed a good time at the Crawford family home.
She departed this life on Sunday, April 9, 2023 in Abilene, Texas.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Quinita Crawford-Carr (Aaron), Kansas City, MO; two bonus sons, Oscar Quinn and James Nelson; one sister, Patricia Crawford, Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Ariana M. Carr, Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law, Johnnie Ann Crawford, Kansas City, MO; nephews, Shelby A. Crawford, Aaron T. Carr, Anthony Crawford, Marcus Crawford and Lawrence W. Crawford; niece, Raeshel Crawford; a host of great nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, 11am at Watkins Heritage. Visit 10am-11am at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
