Ruth Etta Scover (Ms. R), 64, of Kansas City, Kansas, became a blessing to Willie Lee Adams and Ruth Mae (Walker) Adams on March 16, 1954. She gained her heavenly wings September 4, 2021.
Ruth attended Westport High School, Kansas City, Missouri. She later attended Kansas City, Kansas Area Vocational School to pursue business courses.
At an early age, Ruth professed her love for and accepted Jesus Christ.
During her marriage to her best friend for life, Roosevelt T. Scover, Jr., three children were loved unconditionally and unselfishly, Eddie L. Scover, Roosevelt T. Scover, III, and Rosette E. Scover.
“Ms. R” was an outstanding and phenomenal queen that will always be respected. She was a marvelous treasure in the community, being a successful business owner at Ms. R’s Cafe for 37 plus years, and a mentor and second mother to a plethora of people of all ages.
A pillar of Wyandotte County, Kansas, Ruth was active in many events and services within the Wyandotte County community. She received much recognition for her business and services throughout the Greater Kansas City area. Ruth was honored by a host of organizations, including, but not limited to the Mayor’s Office of the Unified Government of the Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, community churches, and Who’s Who in Executives and Businesses.
Ruth was awesome and bright, charming and delightful, encouraging and friendly, generous and helpful, intelligent and jovial, kind and loving, magnificent and nurturing, and her cooking will be missed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee Adams and Ruth Mae (Walker) Adams, and sister, Lillie Mae Green. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Eddie L. Scover, Roosevelt T. Scover, III; a daughter, Rosette E. Scover; grandchildren RaNesha Terry, Tania Sauls, Alexus Scover, Kishon Owens, Tynesha Elias, TaiJannt Scover, Dae’leon Scover, Rickie Hudson, Jr., Thalia Scover, and Eddie L. Scover, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Willie Ann Williams and Terry Lee Adams and Lisa Wallace; brother Steven Wallace; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021, 1:00pm at Forest Grove Baptist Church, KCK. Interment Highland Park Cemetery, KS. Visitation will be from 12:00pm-1:00pm at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website
