Peggy L. Burris Anthony of Murfreesboro, Tennessee transition to her room in heaven on May 30, 2021. She was a longtime resident of Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Anthony was the eldest of five siblings born to Lee Manuel Burris and Lillian H. (Mosby)Burris, in Booneville, Missouri. Both parents as well as a infant brother, two sisters, Ernestine Hart Lindsay and Juanita Hope Burris preceded her in death. Joining them in heaven is a grandson, Chadwrick Anthony.
Mrs. Anthony or sometimes called Peggy Lou grew-up in Tipton, Missouri. She was educated in the Tipton & St. Louis Missouri public school districts.
Mrs. Anthony was baptized at an early age and accepted Christ at Prairie Grove Baptist Church in Tipton, MO, and continued in Kansas City, MO. With Temple of Faith Missionary Baptist Church (under the leadership of the late Pastor John Paine). She remained in Kansas City, MO over fifty years where she lived and worked, until moving to Murfreesboro, TN. in 2010.
Mrs. Anthony leaves to cherish her memories: five children, Rhonda Burris-Hill of KCMO, Ricky Anthony, of Dallas, TX, Mark Anthony, of KCMO, Kenya Anthony, of Murfreesboro, TN., Rochelle”Diane” Anthony , of KCMO, and a bonus daughter, Shirley "Denise" Anthony; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother, Alfred L. Burris (Dale), of Portland, ME.; one sister, Etta J. Ray (Frank), of Kansas City, MO; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, 11:00am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to COVID-19 protocol, social distancing and face coverings are required indoors.
