Obituary
Mary L. Draper-Nelson was born December 1, 1938, in Neelyville, Missouri to Tom C. Porter Sr. and Veary L. Porter. She was preceded in death by her mother Veary L. Porter and father Tom C. Porter Sr., son's Charles L. Draper Jr, Ronell Nelson, sister Mayetta Young, first husband Charles L. Draper Sr and second husband Joe N. Nelson.
She was educated at R.T. Cole School in Kansas City, Missouri. She went on to work in the restaurant industry and was also a nurse’s aide.
Mary L. was baptized and received Christ as her Lord and Saviour at a young age. She prayed and studied her bible every day faithfully. She also donated to her favorite charity St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Mary L. Draper-Nelson passed away Tuesday May 16, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She leaves to cherish sons Russell Draper, Perry Draper, Joe N. Nelson Jr, Donell Nelson, daughters Marshalle R. Nelson and Rose Mary Draper-Phillips. Brother Tom C. Porter Jr, sisters Margaret Smith, Mildred Torrence. Grandkids, Great Grandkids, Great-Great Grandkids and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, 11am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
