Obituary

Lillian McClendon (McGhee), 86, was born on August 1, 1936 to the union of John McGee and Ethel McGhee in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Her husband Rev. William McClendon, her daughter Yolanda Murrell, her parents, her brothers Earl Short, John McGhee, sisters Lucille Turpin and Ethel Carthan preceded her in death.

Lillie was educated in the public schools of Vicksburg, Mississippi to later move to Chicago with her family. Lillie was united in marriage to the late Rev. William McClendon on September 17,1959. They later moved to Blue Springs, MO, where they bought a home to settle and raised their family.

Lillie was a woman of God and accepted Christ at an early age.  She served as First Lady of Zion Baptist Church, later renamed Shiloh Baptist Church in Atchison, Kansas. Later at Logos Baptist Church in Blue Springs, Mo. Lillie had a passion for helping her community and became a Nursing Aid, where she spent over 20 years working and serving in home health care.

She dearly loved her family and helped raise a handful of her nieces and nephews, often having them spend many summers with her. Her energy and smile would radiate a room. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Lillie McClendon answered her call from the Lord on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memory her two grandsons, Joshua (Shauntavia) McClendon of Dallas, Texas, Brandan Mitchell of Blue Springs, Missouri, two great granddaughters Jaaliyah and Sariyah McClendon, son, Jessie (Alicia) Brack; five nieces Betty Sue McGee, Kershanthis Anderson, Brenda Short, Linda (Albert) Mack, Jeanette (Lloyd) Huddleston and host of nephews and nieces, cousins and other relatives, and friends.
