Joyce J. Scott was born in Kansas City Kansas June 23, 1936 to the union of Rice Hicks and Elbie Foster. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Rice and Elbie, two sisters Joan and Juanita, and one brother Vernell.
Joyce attended Douglass Elementary, Northeast Junior High and Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, graduation class of 1954. Joyce’s career as a secretary began with the Wyandotte County Welfare Office, Jackson County Courthouse, Kansas City, Missouri Water Department, and retiring from Southwestern Bell in 1994.
Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Robert Scott Jr. To this union was born two daughters; Kimberly and Traci.
Joyce accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church, Pastor Andrew Foster where she served on the Usher Board for several years. Later she united with Second Baptist Church, Pastor E. A. Chappelle where she became a life-long member. She was active in Bible study and the BTHH Club.
Joyce enjoyed traveling across the United States, Europe and a once in a lifetime trip to Hong Kong and Malaysia. Joyce also enjoyed shopping, going to the movies, and spending time with friends and family especially her two grandsons.
Joyce leaves to cherish her loving memory; daughters, Kimberly Harris of Houston, Texas, Traci Scott of Kansas City, Missouri; grandsons, Reece Willingham of Houston, Texas, Sean Stevenson of Kansas City, Missouri; special niece Vallori Charles of Independence, Missouri; special friends from childhood and a host of relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, February 15th at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Linwood Chapel 1800 E. Linwood Blvd KCMO 64109.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, February 18th at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel 1800 E. Linwood Blvd KCMO 64109. Interment Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo.
