Josie Mae Jackson, 90, passed away on October 2, 2021 at Myers Nursing Home in Kansas city, Missouri. She was born on November 15, 1930 in Fulton, Arkansas to Otho and Edna Nelson Meggerson.
Josie grew up in McNab, Arkansas and worked as a Day Worker all of her adult life. She migrated from Arkansas to St. Louis, Missouri and settled in Kansas City, Missouri.
Josie served as a long time, dedicated usher at Barker Memorial Church of God in Christ.
Josie was preceded in death by her parents Otho and Edna Meggerson, a brother, Leroy Meggerson, sisters China Cooper, Artis Meggerson, and Ruth West; grandchildren Schuyler Foster-Baskin, Marcellus Jones, Michael Jones, husbands Robert L. Jones, Sr. and Richard Jackson.
Josie is survived by one (1) son, Robert L. Jones, Jr., Kansas City, MO, three (3) daughters, Selina M. Jones-Kearney (Lorenzo, Sr.) Kansas City, Missouri; Diann Watson (Terry) Kansas City, Missouri; Verna Phillips (Anoka, Minnesota.
Two sisters, Charlene Nettles, Los Angeles, CA; and Vivian Morgan, Los Angeles, CA; her grandchildren Robert Brown, Jason Brown, Donald Paul (Nicole), Dondra Paul, Mark Paul ( Reba), Marque L. Jones, Montrey Jones, Tierra Jones (Edward), Phillip Foster, Tamara Davis (James); great grandchildren DeShawn Haney, Breanna Sue Paul, Chaunsae Paul, Demarkus Paul, Ebony Harris, Jalin Brown, Jalani Brown, Jason, Jr., Jasmine Brown, Dominique Jones, Ryan Sides, Kaili Purrington, Marquise Jones (Briana), Montryle Jones, Mykailah Jones, Myles Jones, Micha Jones, Amoya Clay, James Davis, Jr., Schuyler Gilchrist, Derrian Davis, Jaeda Foster-Baskin, and numerous nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021,11:00am Barker Memorial Temple. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
