Elsa Marie Nunley 80, was born on March 16, 1942 to the union of Alex Thompson and Millie Grimmett in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.. Her parents and two brothers, Joe Lewis Grimmett and Charles Franklin Clemmons, five sisters, Gertrude Jones, Bessie Gordon, Marjorie Sanders, Rosie Clemmons and Pearl Pankey, grandchild, Jarred Spalding Wilborn all preceded her in death.
Elsa was educated in the Ft. Gibson Public Schools. She later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where she made her home for over fifty years. She was united in marriage to William A. Nunley, who also preceded her in death.
Elsa worked in housekeeping for a number of years, before settling down and becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She also enjoyed quality time with her children and grandchildren.
She departed this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Cathy Ann Pleasant Fields (Darryl); LaDonna F. Nunley, Kansas City, MO; step daughter, DeRhonda E. Nunley, of CA; two sisters, Anna Denson and Lois Jean Clemmons; sister-in-law, Effie Milam; special son, James Wilborn, Sr.; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held next Saturday, June 25, 2022, 11:00am at the Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
