Obituary

Bonita Lynn Belcher-Jones, 66, passed away on January 2, 2022, at St. Luke’s Home Care and Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri.

Bonita was born on September 29, 1955, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Taylor Young and Geneva M. Belcher Johnson.  She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri.  She graduated from Lillis High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1974.  After high school, she attended Metropolitan Community College at Penn Valley in Kansas City, Missouri where she received a degree in Business.  She also received an Accounting Certificate.

Bonita began work for Share-A-Fare as a Driver where she worked for five years.  She retired in 2019 after working twenty-five years.

Bonita was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.  She was involved in the church choir.  She enjoyed singing and being a grandmother.

Bonita married Leland Jones in 1982 in California.  They were happily married for five years.

Bonita was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Johnson, brother, Dario E. Belcher.

Bonita is survived by daughters, Saudia N. Belcher, Asia R. Belcher, Lynita F. Jones; son, Leland C. Jones, II; brothers, Gregory W. Belcher, Guy U. DuBose, Karam I. A. Johnson; grandchildren, Rondell M. Robinson, Johnathan M. Barrett, Kelise R. Washington and Darra Morris; nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022, 3:00pm-5:00pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Private Disposition. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
