Beverly Ann Jordan was born May 24, 1939 to Herbert Jordan Sr and Gertrude Jordan. She was affectionately known as “Biggs” by her loved ones. Beverly was baptized at an early age at Centennial United Methodist Church. She was currently a member of Swope Parkway United Christian Church.
Beverly attended Kansas City Mo public schools, Booker T. Washington, R.T. Coles and graduated from Lincoln High School in May of 1957.Beverly served three years in the Air Force from 1957-1960. She met Wilfred Saunders the love of life in July 1958. They were married at Spruce United Methodist Church in Kansas City MO on October 9, 1960. Together to this union four children were born, Stephen, Edward, Stephanie, and Timothy.
Beverly worked for the Kansas City Public Schools as a cashier in the cafeteria. She loved children and would fix food for them to take home the weekend. Beverly served on the Usher Board and as a Sunday school teacher. She was a Cub Scout Mother and also a member of the American Legion Wayne Minor Post 149 in Kansas City MO.
Beverly was preceded in death by her son Stephen Saunders and her daughter Stephanie Saunders, her parents, three sisters, Gladys Watkins, Sandra Thurston and Ella Mae Jordan, four brothers, Herbert Jordan Jr, William Jordan, Thomas Jordan, and Eugene Jordan, niece Cynthia Thurston and nephew Kevin Jordan Sr.
Beverly is survived by her husband Wilfred Saunders, sons Edward E. Saunders (Audrey) and Timothy R. Saunders. She is also survived by sister Laura Bolder and brother Richard (Ceclia) Jordan, six grandchildren Brandon Moore, Brooke Saunders, Candace Harvey (Jerrell), Bryce C. Jackson, Bryan C. Jackson, and David I. Saunders, four great-grandchildren, Braylen Jackson, Kaleb Brooks, Serenity Jackson and Soroyalty Jackson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2021, 11:00am, at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am-11am, at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and face coverings are required indoors.
