Affectionally known as “Tinsey” was born August 15, 1928, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to the late Leon and Myrtle Jennison.
She attended R. T. Cole School and graduated from Lincoln High School, Kansas City, Missouri where she excelled in academics and vocal music.
Leontine “Loved the Lord”, becoming “SAVED” at an early age. In her later years, she was an active member of Trinity Temple C.O.G.I.C., under Bishop W.B. Henderson, serving as a faithful member of the choir and the Mother Board. Her talents transferred to Calvary Chapel C.O.G.I.C , under the loving care of Pastor Harold Molden Sr. where she continued to flourish on the Mother Board and in the Senior Choir until she was no longer able to physically attend services.
For many years, Leontine worked as a medical techician at Little Sisters of the Poor and Lady of Mercy Nursing Homes, working in the health care field of a medical technician and private CNA nurse.
Known for her singing, gardening, cooking, her famous laugh, and most of all for her words of wisdom as she was proud to call the neighborhood kids “honey, sugar, baby and sweetie. Leontine was also known to many as a faithful “Prayer Warrior,” where she would remind them to “Just Have a Little Talk With Jesus Would Make It All Right!”
Leontine’s life mission and conviction was her family and her faith. As the family Matriarch, she championed education which included her medical technician certification at the memorable age of 50.
Proceeding her in death were: Leon Jennison and Myrtle McIntyre(parents); Birdie Scroggins (sister); Eddie Silvers Jr (husband and Sam J. Hamner (husband); Edward Silvers III (son); Deniese Harris (daughter); Pamela Brooks (daughter); Renee’ Silvers (daughter); and Andre’ Silvers (son).
Leontine leaves to cherish her memories:

Silvers (Joyce) Kansas City, MO, Dr. Cassandra Turner, Memphis, TN, Antiano Silvers, Kansas City, MO, Veleatha Wood-Bennett, Grandview, MO, Iran Jones, Kansas City, MO, Kevin Jones, Kansas City, MO, Lyvette Stephenson, Kansas City, MO, Lyvance Silvers, Kansas City, MO, and Bobby Scroggins (nephew), Louisville, KY, Ramyia Silvers (Goddaughter and granddaughter), Kansas City, Missouri. A beloved host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Visitation 2:00 -3:00pm. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
