Gussie Lee Union, 79, was born in Eudora, Arkansas on October 18, 1941 to Mary Alice Freeman and Lloyd Freeman. She lived in Rohwer, Arkansas, where she received her education. She lived in Indianapolis, Indiana for many years, then moved to Kansas City, Kansas with her children and husband. She worked at Brand and Pierce for 15 years, then she retired from the University of Kansas Medical Center after 17 years of service.
Gussie, affectionately called “Duck” married James Union on March 5, 1958 in Rohwer, Arkansas. They were happily married for 60 years. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, drinking coffee on the porch, laughing, playing cards, and solving puzzles.
Gussie passed away on August 31, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Union Sr.; parents,; Son, James Union Jr.; parents, Mary Alice Freeman, Lloyd Freeman Sr; Siblings, Sara Freeman, Maylee Freeman, Alberta Johnson (Mose), Percy Freeman (Louelle), Frank Freeman (Gayla), Richard Charles, Lloyd Freeman Jr.
Gussie leaves her loving family including her children; Daughters, Mary Union, Gloria Union, Mayhanner Union, Lyventha Moore (David), Vivian Union; Sons, Edgar Union Sr., Jimmie Union; Siblings, Willie Lee Williams, Essie McConico (Leroy), Ethel Owens (Tim), Louis Freeman, Floyd Freeman, Clarence Freeman; Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Private Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 4th. Visitation 9:00 A.M. Interment Chapel Hill Cemetery.
