Mrs. Archie Lee (Daniels) Talbert was born to the union of Matt and Christel Daniels on November 25, 1923 in Homer, Louisiana. In her early years, Archie Lee worked on her family farm, and contributed to her family’s business. Though she was unable to achieve formal education in her youth, as an adult, she worked diligently and earned her certificate of high school equivalency. She was an advocate of learning and progress. If you were a student/learner Archie would encourage you to study hard and to follow your dreams. After being raised in Louisiana, Archie Lee migrated north, like many Black Americans, for a better life.
She moved to Kansas City, MO where she worked in hotel cleaning services and then later worked in a uniform factory. Kansas City is where she met and married her “Jones-ey” (Jones Talbert). The two of them journeyed through life together and were an illustrious example of commitment and unity. Jones and Archie shared three children, daughter Ethel Lucille McGlothen, sons Patrick and Timothy Talbert. Archie Lee loved and cared for Jones until his death in 2013. Archie Lee loved her Savior Jesus Christ. She always gratefully proclaimed that her life was forever changed when Jesus entered her heart. She embodied the Christian principles of charity, service, and selflessness. Her devotion to her faith was evident in her daily life as she spent her entire day focused on the Lord. Whether she was reading her Bible, praying or listening to gospel music, Archie was a soldier in the army of the Lord. Her family oftentimes stated that Jesus was her best friend because of how she loved and trusted the Lord. Archie’s day was not complete without seeing or talking to her son Patrick. They shared an incredible bond and navigated through life’s peaks and valleys with the support of one another. “Granny Talbert” is how she was affectionately known by her grand-daughters and their spouses/friends. Granny adored her grandchildren and was their biggest advocate. She gave the best hugs and kisses and her sweet spirit left lasting impressions on all whom she encountered.
This same love extended to her seven great grandchildren, whom she often checked on and always looked forward to seeing their bright faces. If you knew Granny, you knew her family because it was her favorite topic of conversation. On Sunday November 1, 2020, Archie Lee was called to Heaven. She was surrounded by her family, as she peacefully passed, joining many of her loved ones in Glory. Archie was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her daughter Ethel, her son Timothy, and her husband Jones.
To hold dear and remember her amazing presence, Archie leaves son Patrick Talbert (Sherry) of Kansas City; granddaughters Scherrie Jones (Marlon), Elisha Jackson (Larry), and Ashley Talbert; seven great-grandchildren Isaac Jackson, Lily Jackson, Ian “2020” Jackson, Paiton Jones, Marlon Jones III, Patrick Jones, and Reese Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
