Robert L. Taylor was born July 9, 1955, as an only child to Ouida Mae Thorp and Les Roy Taylor, who preceded him in death.
Robert was born in Bronx, New York and moved to Kansas City around the age of fifteen years old with his mother.
Robert retired from the United States Army after twenty years of service.
Robert attended the Police Academy and became a police officer; working for the KCI Airport for about five years. He left KCI Airport for a position he was passionate about, the Kansas City School District ROTC Program, where he could work with young people. He retired from the School District because of failing health in 2008.
Robert loved eating certain foods but his favorite was BBQ and potato salad and his favorite activity was going to the casino.
Robert departed this life on May 1, 2023 at 8:55 a.m. at home.
Robert leaves behind to celebrate his homegoing, his loving and devoted wife of thirty-four years, Rozanne Taylor of the home; one daughter, Mahassen M. Way of Tampa, Florida; four sons, Robert L. Taylor, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, Phillip King of Grandview, Missouri, Michael King (Garnetta) of Olathe, Kansas, Fai Kendrick of Omaha, Nebraska; a very special uncle and aunt, Reverend Dr. and Mrs. C. W. Dawson of Columbia, Missouri; his best friend, Curtis West; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 8, 2023, 11am at the Linwood Chapel. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
