Rickie Carl Clay,70, passed away on June 2, 2021, at Swope Parkway Geriatric Center.
Rickie Carl Clay departed this life on Tuesday morning, June 2, 2021, at the Swope Park Geriatric Center where he was a resident. Rickie was the youngest of four children, born in Atilla, Alabama to the union of the late Richard and Della Mae Mostella Clay.
He united at an early age with Friendship Baptist Church in Atilla, Alabama, attended Norris High School in Atilla, Alabama, joined the Army and served in Korea and Germany as a gunner man and driver. When he was discharged from the Army he settled in Akron, Ohio.

Rickie enjoyed spending time with his with his kids, fishing, cooking out, gardening, puzzles, and painting. Rickie’s work ethic was strong throughout his life. He worked as a cook, auto mechanic social worker, case manager for Summit County and City of Cleveland, Ohio.
Rickie leaves to cherish his memories: one Sister, Gloria G. Clay Johnson, Kansas City, Missouri, two sons, Rubin and Quincy Clay of Akron, Ohio, four daughters, Darice Clay, Kiya Portis both of Akron, Ohio, and Donna Clements (Mack) of McKey Port, PA., Lesia K. Clay of Clarksville, Tenn., two Sister in- laws (Phyllis Harris Clarksville, Tenn. And Gay Harris of Gainesville, MD., Special nephew Mark Johnson, special friends, Virginia Motty, Elizabeth Castell, Teddy Ayres, Curtis Bass, Teresa Green, and Dora Green, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Simple Farewell will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021, 11:00am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to COVID-19,social distancing and face coverings are required indoors.
