Pastor Michael Andre Griswold was born on May 25, 1982 in Kansas City, MO to LaJeanna Griswold and Michael Ford. He was the oldest of four children.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Harold and Joan Ross, three aunts LaSonia Griswold, LaTonia Griswold and LaMesha Ross, grandfather, John Thomas, paternal great grandparents Charles and Sylpha Locke, Thomas E. & Louise Smith. Great uncles Thethel & Daisy Locke and Charles D. Marion O. Locke and a host of cousins and loved ones.
Pastor Griswold attended the Kansas City, MO school district and graduated from Don Bosco on May 17, 2000. Michael was pursuing his Associates in Arts at Metropolitan Community College.
Michael also attended Carver Baptist Bible College Institute and Theological Seminary in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies with plans on attending Midwestern Baptist Theological seminary Counseling and Pastoral care.
On March 19, 2011, Michael Andre Griswold and Venus M. Roe and were united in marriage.
At the age of 23, Pastor Griswold accepted Christ and was baptized. In March 2007, he joined Macedonia Baptist Church under Pastor John L. Brooks and began his journey into ministry. September 2012, Pastor Griswold became an ordained Deacon at Macedonia and he joyfully served his church and community. He also served as a Macedonia Intern, the Ministry leader for the Brotherhood and supported multiple ministries including, 20 Something, Transportation, Drama and Prison. Pastor Griswold traveled on numerous International missionary trips with Macedonia as well as several across the United States. The experiences from the missionary trips strengthened Michael's walk with God and encouraged him to be more intentional about serving God’s children, both locally and abroad.
In 2017, Pastor Griswold accepted his call to preach the gospel and presented himself to the church. During this same year Pastor Griswold become full time staff at Macedonia serving as the Teen Pastor. He welcomed his fourth child, Michael Andre Griswold Jr., who joined two sisters, Mi’Keycia Griswold, Myaun Boyd and brother Tristan Chandler.
While Pastor Griswold had many jobs throughout his life his dream was fulfilled accepting his position as Teen Pastor at Macedonia Baptist Church. Pastor Griswold spent many days and nights praying over the teens and their relationships with Christ. He served diligently, faithfully, and wholeheartedly.
Pastor Griswold leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife Venus Griswold, his parents Michael Ford and LaJeanna Griswold, paternal grandmother Virginia Thomas, grandfather, Leroy L. Ford; four children Mi’Keycia Griswold, Myaun Boyd, Tristan Chandler and Michael Andre Griswold Jr., four brothers Mitchell, Malcolm & Mortez Griswold, Montre’ Ford, loving mother-in-law Jamesetta Roe and the Macedonia Teen ministry along with a host of relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11 am at Macedonia Baptist Church 1700 E Linwood Blvd KCMO. Visitation will be held from 7 am - 11 am at the Church. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
