In the early morning hours of April 24, 2023, an angel of mercy silently touched and laid stilled the body of Gary Gajahn Bartee, with his family by his side.
Gary Gajahn Bartee was born on December 1, 1978, in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Gary Bartee and Delores Carter Bartee. His father Gary Bartee, maternal grandfather Odell Carter, Sr., and paternal grandparents Alfred and Royce Bartee preceded him in death. At an early age Gary Gajahn accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized by Dr. Donald D. Ford I and would continue his spiritual journey through online broadcasts and tithing with Second Missionary Baptist Church.
Gary was known to the family as Gajahn and affectionately known to some as “Kushie Valentino”. As a graduate of Ruskin High School, Gajahn continued his educational goals by attending Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley. As a freelance worker Gajahn passionately inspired to pursue an avenue as a standup comedian and even successfully completed a performance at a comedy house in the Legends Kansas City. To know and be around Gajahn was always a laughable and enjoyable time. With his lively and animated character, he could tell the best stories.
His grandmother Royce was his early childhood babysitter and from here family would become an important aspect of his life. One of his most precious moments in life was the birth of his only child Re’Mya Bartee who he deeply cherished and called his “Twin”. She was his world. He talked to her every morning and when she walked into the room you could see that Gajahn knew what his purpose on Earth was, he was made to be a father.
He leaves to forever cherish his memory: his beloved mother, Dolores Bartee, his darling daughter Re’Mya Bartee, his treasured brother Gabriel, a very special niece Harmony and his dearest grandmother Hattie Carter all of Kansas City, Missouri, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023, 11am at Second MBC 5111 Harry S. Truman Rd. Grandview, MO 64030. Private Disposition. Visitation will be from 10am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
