Frank Alfred Russell (affectionately known as Frankie) was born on June 26,1957, in Kansas City, Missouri. Frankie is the son of Alma Watkins and Fred L. Russell, who both preceded him in death. Frankie made his home in Kansas City, Missouri and was educated in the Kansas City public schools, he was a graduate of Manual High School class of 1976. While at Manual he was a member of the marching band and ROTC. He united with the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Wallace S. Hartsfield, Sr He was a faithful member singing in the church choir, working audio/video ministry and the Christian Workers. He was a U. S. Army veteran .Frankie had several health issues prohibiting him from having a professional career.
Frankie was a kind and gentle soul that never missed an opportunity to laugh. Frankie did not have any living relatives that he knew. His church family was his only family. He spent decades serving the Lord, fellowshipping and volunteering at his beloved “Metropolitan.”
Frankie loved the mechanics of writing and collecting thoughtful readings. He also loved to hear and tell a good joke. Frankie’s favorite hymn was “Guide Me O’ Thy Great Jehovah” by William Williams. He had several scriptures highlighted in his bible, but he put emphasis on Psalm 40:2-3a, “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” Frankie had made his peace with God several years before his passing. We will surely miss his humorous wit, positive attitude, and Christian devotion.
