Edward “Eddie” Vernon Williams, Jr. was born to MaryAnn and Edward Williams, Sr. on October 2, 1957, at the University of Kansas Hospital.
Growing up, Eddie was a bright child, but his strong-willed and inquisitive nature led him to do things his way – “the Eddie way.” After receiving his education from St. Joseph Grade School and Bishop Lillis High School, he enlisted in the United States Marines at the age of seventeen, in which he served four years. While away, Eddie earned his degree at an institution in Guam.
Many of Eddie’s years were spent traveling, as he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for over thirty years before retiring. Despite the frequent commutes, he always managed to make pit stops in his hometown, Kansas City, Missouri, for a round of dominos, a hand of spades and a game of online pinochle with his good friends.
Eddie departed this earthly life on July 18, 2021, following his courageous battle with cancer. Despite his many challenges with the disease, Eddie was at peace and did not fear death. He knew that with the Lord, he would have eternal life – free from pain and despair.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Edward Williams, Sr. and brothers, Dywane Williams and Keith Coates.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, MaryAnn Williams; children, Edward “Trae” Williams, III and Raheisha (Aaron) Freestone; siblings, Verrice (Glen) Cason, Eric Williams and Vernae Williams; nieces, Shianne Williams and Mylan Cason; nephew, Myles Cason; fiancée, Jeannette Roberts; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Service will held on Friday, July 30, 2021, 2:00pm at Brooking Cemetery. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones Sons & Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
