Arthur Irby Greene, Sr., 92, was born on August 19,1929 in Laurens, South Carolina. His parents and siblings all preceded him in death.
Arthur was educated in the Laurens, South Carolina public schools. After high school he enlisted in the U. S. Army serving in the Army for two years, he was a firefighter while in the service. He received several awards and honors while enlisted.
Arthur relocated to the Kansas City area where he made his home for over fifty years. He was a member of the Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Emanuel A. Johnson and current Pastor Rev. Donald W. Givens.
Arthur was united in marriage to Willow Greene; she also preceded him in death. He was employed at Montgomery Ward Company as an auto mechanic until he retired, after retirement he worked for the YMCA.
Arthur was a loving father and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his children and fishing.
He departed this life on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the V. A. Medical Center.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Arthur I. Greene, Jr. and Avery Greene, Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Theresa Greene, Kansas City, MO, a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021, 12:30pm in Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will be from 10am-11:30am at the chapel. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
