It is with great sadness to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Mary “Aphrodite" Rabon.
Mary A. Rabon, 71 a longtime Kansas City, MO resident, peacefully departed this life on Thursday June 25, 2020. Mary was born July 25, 1948 in Kansas City, MO.
Mary was the loving mother of John L Hobley and James H Hobley. Grandmother of Jamar Harker, Jamie Hobley, Jasmine Clark and Great Grandmother of 5. Mary was loved and respected in the community, and her death has left a hole in our heart and lives.
At an early age Mary professed her faith in Jesus Christ. Mary and her sons were members of St. James Methodist Church, and served faithfully for over 40 years as a greeter and usher.
Mary was best known as the radio personality "Aphrodite" on KPRS Hot 103.3 and don't forget to slam that "Z". She worked for them for many years doing the horoscope.
Mary was a profound advocate for ending institutionalized racism and combating the disparities and inequalities faced by minorities. Working in politics to help better the community. Mary also worked for and with CCO Communities Creating Opportunity. She has been a face in the community for many years.
Mary had a spirit and infectious laughter that touch so many hearts. Her generosity and pure love is something that we’ll all cherish and miss. She was an avid sports fan who loved her KC Chiefs and Royals.
Mary was preceded in death by her Parents Harrison and Rose Lee Rabon, and her brother Raymond Powell, and Sister Martha Rabon. Mary leaves to cherish her memory a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates and friends.
Private family service will be held Saturday July 4, 2020 at the Lawrence A. Jones-Sons Funeral home.
