Obituary

Juanita Leona Henderson 89, was born to the union of Mary and Leo Henderson on December 1, 1930. Juanita attended elementary school at W.W. Yates; Junior High School at R.T. Coles and Lincoln High School where she graduated. For her academic achievements she received a scholarship and attended Drake University. Juanita accepted Christ at a young age from the guidance of her second mother, Frances Caldwell, who took her to church regularly. From her childhood into her adult years she was a faithful member and faithful in the bus ministry at Second Baptist Church of Kansas City as well as Second Missionary Baptist Church, Grandview, MO. She was the Church Mother of the Full Faith Christian Center in Kansas City and faithfully served in the food pantry ministry. Her favorite scripture is Proverbs 3: 5 and 6. She met her future husband while working at a grocery store. She eventually married Milton Myers, Sr. on December 29th, 1947. To this union was her eight children; Gwendolyn, Milton, Jr., Larry, Deborah, Deland, Kevin, Gilbert and Tracey which were her pride and joy. Her professional career included being a wonderful stay at home Mom. After her children reach school age, she returned to the workforce where she was employed at various companies including, the Kansas City School District, St. Joseph Hospital and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Group. After retirement, she became restless and returned to school to become a certified Nurse’s Assistant. Juanita took her loving motherly skills to care for others. Her favorite past times were cooking, crocheting, knitting, dancing, decorating, playing cards and loving on her children. When her children were in school, she participated in their Parent Teacher Associations, Cub Scouts where she was a Den Mother and always encouraged her children to get an education and reach for the stars. On Thursday, February 6, 2020, Juanita departed this earth to be with her Savior. Her memories will be cherished by her children, their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, friends at Temple Heights and Seasons Memory Care. Her smile, kindness and always willing to speak will be greatly missed.  Religious Services were held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Lawrence A Jones and Sons Funeral Chapel 1800 E. Linwood Blvd. KCMO 64109. Interment is in Forest Hill Cemetery Kansas City, Missouri.
