Harold James Wells better known as “Bud Wells” was born October 13, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas. To the union of Moses H. Wells and Priscilla B. Twiggs who preceded him in death. He was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas School System and was a proud member of Sumner High School Class of 1955.
Bud joined the United States Army in 1955 and served many years in Germany retiring after 23 years of service. He enjoyed his memberships in Prince Hall Mason, Pride of the West Lodge #53 becoming a 50 year member, Orient Consistory #19(AASR), and Koran Temple #33 AEAONMS where he was an Illustrious Past Potentate.
His presence was always seen at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where he assisted in the kitchen on numerous occasions. Bud enjoyed carpentry work around his home and studying his Sunday School Lessons. His biggest goal was to always challenge his Sunday School instructor and keep the members thinking. He also enjoyed the Annual Rosedale Day Picnic and the Wells Family Gatherings. Bud always encouraged the family members to know your family history of being a “WELLS”.
Following retirement from the military Bud worked for the US Postal Services and Volume Service, soon deciding he would enjoy the retirement life.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Wells, Allen Wells, Freddie Wells, Robert Wells Sr., Timothy Wells and sister Charlesetta Lowery.
He leaves to celebrate and honor his life’s journey sister, Helen Wells Harrison, Kansas City, MO. Sister-in-laws Ana Wells, Kansas City, MO and Areatha Wells, College Park, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Masonic services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation 9:00 A.M. Funeral service 11:00 A.M. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery.
