Deacon Louis David Loche’ Jr, 97, transitioned from earth to reward on Wednesday May 3, 2023. Born December 11, 1925, in Morehouse Parish, LA. He was the son of Louis David Loche’ Sr. and Laura James Loche’. His family relocated to Kansas City, MO in the 1930s.
Louis was educated in the Kansas City, MO school system attending R. T. Coles Junior High School and graduating from R. T. Coles Vocational High School. At R. T. Coles Vocational he satisfactorily completed the prescribed course in Building Maintenance. After graduation, Louis enlisted into the United States Army where he served in World War II. After Louis was honorably discharged from the army. He obtained an entry level position with the United States Postal Service of Kansas City. At the post office he worked his way up through the ranks, ultimately becoming the first president of The National Postal Mail Handlers Union Local 297. He worked in that capacity for 20+years and near the end of his career, became Management Coordinator for Quality Work Life (QWL).
Louis was married to Murdis K. Dean, who proceeded him in death in 2012. To their union one child Jerry Louis Loche’ was born. Jerry died in Infancy and while they did not birth any other children they loved and nurtured many as their own. Louis and Murdis enjoyed 62 years of married life rooted in love for God, each other, doing God’s will, and in Christian service and charity.
Louis was a lifetime member of the COGIC community, and he spent the last 23 years as a member of Barker Memorial Cathedral of Praise. He was installed as a deacon there and served in other capacities over the years, receiving numerous awards and recognitions for his service and dedication to the ministry.
He leaves to cherish his memory His “Girls” Jewel Yvonne Durant Jones (Clarence), Gaddie W. Baker and Robinetta Web all of Shreveport, LA, 2 sons and daughters: Elder Lance and Mrs. LeVerne Carter, and Superintendent Donald and Mrs. Vanessa Smith. One Brother-in-law Rev. Dr. Charles Brown (Patsy), one nephew, Christopher Charles Brown and one niece Kristen (Rico) Pleasant, and numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, 11am at Barker Memorial Temple. Interment Monday, May 15, at 10 am Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS. Visitation will from 10am-11am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
