Claudia Mae Jackson Johnson, age 84, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born on August 7, 1935 to Fannie Mae Walker Jackson and Theodore Eugene Jackson in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the youngest of four children born into this union. Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Johnson; siblings, Geraldine Jackson Dooley, Emma Jackson Woods, Theodore Jackson, Oscar Jackson and George Jackson.
Claudia was educated in Kansas City, KS schools, where she completed her high school education. On April 15, 1956, Claudia married the love of her life, Eddie L. Johnson. With this marriage, she became a second mom to Eddie’s children, Paul and Wanda.
Claudia was a woman of many talents… She was an accomplished self-taught beautician, with a passion for styling hair. There wasn’t anyone in the family whose hair she didn’t touch! Claudia enjoyed cooking, baking, and was very skilled with a sewing machine. She always had projects she was working on. She loved children, and always had an open door for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Claudia loved to travel with Eddie. Some of the many places they visited were Hawaii, Niagara Falls and Las Vegas. She was generous, witty and could be a little bit unfiltered. Claudia retired from the Kansas City (MO) Public Schools in 1996. She was active in social organizations throughout her life. She was a 38-year member of Jennie N. Moore #50, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of Koran Temple #37 Shriners. Claudia was a long time member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher until her health failed.
Claudia is survived by her children, Paul E. Johnson & Wanda Johnson Wright (Ed); six grandchildren: Stacey Reaves (Anthony), Courtney D. Boykin, Jacquelyn J. Johnson, Jason P. Johnson, Stephanie Ashley-Murray and Michael A. Johnson, twelve great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Visitation 9:00 A.M. Interment Longview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
