Obituary

Charles Everett Ragsdale Jr., 52, (known to some as “Chuck”, “Ragz” and “Charlie Rock”) of Independence, Mo, entered eternal rest Thursday October 8th, 2020. He was a passionate, devoted-loving father, long story telling, fashionable man. He was born on October 31, 1967 to the late Charles Ragsdale Sr. and Louella Calhoun Ragsdale in New York City, NY.

Charles grew up in the Bronxdale projects in the Bronx, NY, with his surviving sister Darcell Otelia Ragsdale. He graduated from Adlai Stevenson High School in 1986 and then enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country in 1987 to 1989 where his primary specialty was 77F10 petroleum supply specialist. In 1991 due to the Desert Storm war, he was called back to active duty as a petroleum supply specialist. He was then discharged from the Army in 1991 with an Army achievement medal 1st OLC, national defense service medal, expert marksmanship badge grenade, and sharpshooter marksmanship badge rifle, m-16.

Charles began his Masonic fellowship in New Jersey and continued his brothership at Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Kansas City at Prudence Lodge #6.

Charles is survived by his three children: Charles “ Lil Charles/ C3” Everett Ragsdale III of Raleigh, NC , Justice Tia Ragsdale and Myles Julian Ragsdale of St. Louis, Mo. His Aunt Frances Ragsdale Hicks of McKenney, VA, his former wife Valarie James-Ragsdale and his granddog Sebastian “Bash” Ragsdale of St. Louis, MO.

His overall charm, including his beautiful smile, contagious laugh, loyalty to his family and friends, immense sense of humor, comedic gestures, and forever lasting phone calls will permanently be missed.
