Ann Marie Young passed March 8, 2020. She was born December 7, 1936. The first-born child of Annie Belle and Clarence Shirley.
Ann was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District attending Wendell Phillips and R.T. Coles before graduating from Lincoln High School in 1954.
Ann was united in marriage to Sylvester T. Young. Of that union one son, Sylvester T. Young, Jr. was born. During the early years of marriage, Ann worked for several local companies. She left her employment at UMKC to become a full time Homemaker.
Life changed for Ann in 1985 when she suffered a stroke and became physically challenged. Despite her many health challenges through the years she remained optimistic and approached each day with joy and happiness staying focused on the Lord.
Ann was a quiet, mild mannered, caring, and kind person with a big heart. She thought the best of everyone and put others needs ahead of her own. She loved to read and was an avid KC Chiefs fan.
Ann dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at St. Stephens Baptist Church. Later in life she united with Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member. The highlight of her week was attending church on Sundays.
Ann was preceded in death by both parents, her husband of 48 year, grandson Darreon Murray and great grandson Dominic Young, Jr.

Young, Jr., daughter, Theresa Ashby; sisters, Carolyn Easter and Franzetta Shirley; brother, Clarence Shirley, Jr.; grandchildren, Tiara Parker, Dominic Young, Sr., Daniell Murray-Young, Toya Westbrook, Takisha Westbrook, Dennis Westbrook, Jr. and Tamika Westbrook; California nieces and nephews, Wanda Campbell (Skip), Anthony Taylor (Kelly), Robert Taylor, Latrice Johnson (Reggie) and Samantha Taylor; special friends, Laurice Moore and Patricia Oliver, and a host of other great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
