Mr. William Delano "Willie " Paul

William (Willie) Delano Paul Jr., passed away on July 6, 2025, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. He was born on November 17, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana, the second oldest child of 13 to Willie and Cleo Paul. Willie grew up in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Manual High School in Kansas City in 1957. He was a carpenter and could fix and remodel anything. Rarely did someone come to the house to fix things, he did it all. He worked for General Hospital #2 as an Orderly. He later worked for Home Insurance as an Underwriter while also working part-time at Commerce Bank. He retired in 2003, from Home Insurance after 41 years of service. Early on in life, Willie met and married his High School sweetheart Audrey Sherman. To this union they had 10 children, 6 boys and 4 girls. Family was the highlight of his life. He loved his wife and made sure she was happy. They lived a good life together for 68 yrs …happily married 66 years. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and briefly sang in the choir. Willie was very active in his community and a member of the Club Royal Gents. He also was an avid singer with the Chandelier’s and Turban’s singing groups. As a Philanthropist, he supported many charities faithfully. Willie’s wisdom, humor, and willingness to help others was always on full display as he was a “Foster Dad” to many families and friends. As a leader and protector of his family, Willie set the examples of Love, Commitment, Friendship, and Fatherhood. Since retiring Willie enjoyed the great outdoors, you’d rarely catch him inside the house. Planting flowers, sprucing up the yard, listening to his favorite music, entertaining, barbequing, bowling, and playing dominoes his all-time favorite game. Hanging out with his grandchildren was the highlight of his days. He will be missed dearly. He was the Anchor for our family, and taught us all that we must live on, and we’ll continue the legacy. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cleo Paul; sisters, Anna Mae; Ola Mae; Bobbie; and Rosemary; daughter, Michelle; granddaughter, Allany Paul; grandson, DuRon Paul; and great grandson, Darius Session. He leaves in the loving care of God his wife, Audrey; children, Willie; Tyrone (Pam); Melvin; Derrick (Juanita); Juanita (Derrick); Ricky; Lisa (Donald); Darrell (Lynn); Nicole; siblings, Billy; Betty; Dorothy; Ida; Donald; Linda; Dale; a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; and an abundance of relatives; and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church 2200 Olive Street KCMO 64127. Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery.
