Mr. Wilfred Powell

Mr. Wilfred Powell, 69, passed away on April 25, 2026, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on November 13, 1956, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Albert Powell and Emma Jean Morrow Powell. Wilfred was raised in Kansas City, Kansas, where he graduated from Sumner High School with the Class of 1975. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1976. He served his country honorably for three years, attaining the rank of E-3 before receiving an honorable discharge in 1979. Wilfred was a devoted member of Christ Church of the Jesus Hour. He loved fellowshipping with others and staying rooted in God’s Word. He had a passion for art and received several awards for his artistic talent beginning in early childhood. He also enjoyed playing basketball, chess, building model cars, and singing whenever the moment struck. Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Wilfred had a special gift for making people laugh. His joyful spirit and warm personality made him the life of every gathering. Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Jean Powell, and Albert Powell; his sisters, Paula Berry, and Janice Huskey; his brothers, Rodney Sanders, and Alviney Powell; his daughters, Carla Davis, and Tiffany Davis; and his grandson, Aaron Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Chanelle Stevenson of Illinois; his brothers, Henry Easter (Kansas City, Missouri), Alex Powell (Kansas City, Kansas), Daran Powell (Kansas City, Missouri), and Richard Powell of Kansas; and his sisters, Joylyn Phillips of California, Yvette Sanders of California, Marsha Powell of California, Tanya Easter of Kansas City, Missouri, Gail Powell of California, Rosalyn (Frank) McCuiston of Kansas City, Kansas, and Venisa Powell of Kansas City, Kansas. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Moniece Davis, Antonio Sharod, Jayden Cobbs, Malaysia Green, Melodie Green, and Malachi Green, along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory. Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Lawrence A. Jones Homes & Cremation 2065 North 5th Street KCKS 66101.
