Obituary Virginia Louise Dickson was born on January 25, 1944, in Kansas City Missouri to her parents, VL Dickson and Eunice Smith Dickson. She was the oldest of three children that include Wilhemena and Carlotta. She was called home to the Lord on Saturday morning, July 9, 2022, at the age of 78 years old. Virginia married in 1963 at the age of 19 to Robert Hiram Johnson from Macon, GA. They had 3 children, Vernon, Willetta, and Donald. Virginia graduated from Lincoln High in 1962. She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Virginia loved the Lord. She was raised in the church and was Baptized at the age of 11. From the very beginning her heavenly father was the influence of her life. She found herself at Fellowship Baptist church in 1955 where her parents worshiped, and where she raised her children for over 60 years. Her artistic and athletic talent was on display early in her life. She learned to play the piano which led to her working in the music ministry for her church involved in everything from giving lessons to the youth to singing lead with the adult choir where she also played the organ. She was an excellent athlete who played softball, was an avid bowler, and at the age of 50 took up marathon biking for 15 years. Virginia was very competitive in everything she did which was no more evident than in the corporate workplace and as a businesswoman. She was, at minimum, a manager for various companies like Bendix Aerospace, Western Auto, and Sprint. She was a Mary Kay Consultant for several years and was a member ABWA (American Business Women’s Association). Virginia also enjoyed traveling to many places around the world and learning new things about places she had never been. She loved spending quality time with her family and friends and would go on trips with her church community, her workplace community, and her family. But if you truly know Virginia Louise Johnson, you know that her greatest joy was spreading the Word of God. Preceded in death are parents VL Dickson, Eunice Dickson, sister Wilhemena Dickson and nephew Hiram Dickson. Virginia is survived by her sister Carlotta Dickson, her daughter Willetta Johnson(Xavier B. Granville), her two sons Vernon Johnson(Tracy Johnson) and Donald Johnson(Sequana Johnson), her nieces Colette Dickson and Deitra Dickson Johnson(Charles Johnson), her grandchildren April Warren, Victor Johnson, Marquetta Johnson, Katrina Lewis(Ryan Lewis), Precious Johnson, four great grandchildren, her cousins Retha Whitehead, Frankita Whitehead, Roderick Whitehead, and a host of other family and friends across the country. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 11:00am at Fellowship Baptist Church. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the church.
