Ms. Vanessa Curry

Vanessa Curry was born on January 26, 1959, in Newport, Rhode Island, to the union of Paul and Thelma Curry. Vanessa received her education through the Kansas City Public School District. She later earned her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license, a career she embraced with compassion and dedication. For many years, she provided exceptional home health care, touching the lives of countless patients with her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Vanessa deeply loved her family and friends. She had an incredible sense of humor and a special gift for telling jokes that could brighten anyone's day. Although she did not have children of her own, Vanessa shared a special bond with her nephew, Lawrence, whom she gave the nickname "Man." She loved and cared for him as if he were her own son. Her fun-loving, compassionate, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. A gifted cook and baker, Vanessa found great joy in preparing meals and desserts for those she loved. She was known for creating her own recipes from scratch, including her famous oatmeal raisin cookies, peach cobbler cake, and sweet potato pie, just to name a few family favorites. There seemed to be nothing Vanessa could not do. Her ambitious and adventurous spirit kept her active and engaged in life. Even during her illness, she refused to let it define or limit her. Vanessa gave her life to Christ and never hesitated to share her faith with others. She boldly proclaimed her love for the Lord throughout her life and remained steadfast in her belief until her very last day. Although her time with us was far too short, Vanessa's love, kindness, and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of compassion, laughter, faith, and generosity will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched. Vanessa Curry passed away on July 12, 2026. Vanessa was preceded in death by her father, Paul Curry; her sister, Sherrell Dorn; her brother, Lawrence Curry; her great-niece, Brandy Williams; and her great-nephew, Tyler Watson. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved mother, Thelma Curry; her sister, Linda Curry; her devoted nephew, Lawrence Curry; her great-niece, Kenya Curry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Church Of God In Christ 2422 Van Brunt Blvd. KCMO 64127. Interment: Brooking Cemetery.
