Ms. Sherry Taylor

Sherry Lynn Taylor was born April 9, 1982, in North Kansas City, Missouri to parents Jerry and Shirley Taylor. Beauty radiated from Sherry, inside and out. She was known for her quiet, sweet, and kind nature. She was a christian woman, precious and loving daughter, devoted aunt, cherished sister and friend. Sherry grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. As a youth she was actively involved in church, participating in choir, usher board, track team, and girls' auxiliary group. Sherry’s faith in God never wavered. She often mentioned that she felt God’s presence. She graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School before earning a Bachelor of Science from University of Missouri-Kansas City. Sherry continued her education, earning her Master of Arts degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. After returning to Overland Park, Kansas she worked for United Healthcare for a number of years. Sherry enjoyed living in the Kansas City area. She was a sports buff who watched football, basketball, and baseball. She especially loved the Kansas City Chiefs. Sherry enjoyed attending cultural events, all types of museums, musicals, and plays. Hamilton was one of her favorite musicals. She enjoyed pampering herself, shopping, and spending time with her beloved friend Christina Long. Sherry had a special connection with her niece Gracyn. The two had fun shopping together and enjoyed many late night phone calls discussing Gracyn’s day. Sherry was one of Gracyn’s biggest cheerleaders, who enthusiastically celebrated her achievements. Sherry will be dearly missed. Her absence is deeply felt by all those who knew and loved her. Sherry is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Jerry and Bertha Taylor; maternal grandparents Tommie Bissic and Freddie Allen. Sherry leaves to cherish in her memory her parents Jerry and Shirley Taylor; sister Stephanie Taylor; brother Tyrone Allen; nieces Taylor Allen and Gracyn Taylor; nephew Spencer Allen. She leaves a large and loving extended family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024,11am at Corinthian Baptist Church. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation from 10am-11am at the church. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
