Ms. Rita Norman-Lang

Rita Janelle Norman Lang was born to the union of Judge R. Norman Jr. and Loretta Elsenia Neeley Norman at Douglass Hospital in Quindaro, Kansas on September 16, 1954. She received her education in the Kansas City Kansas School District 500 graduating from Washington High School Class of 1972. She played Clarinet in the Marching Band and excelled in sewing class where her clothing projects were displayed in the Showcase. Growing up in a Christian musical family, at the age of 3 she began singing in the Children’s Choir at First Baptist Church of Quindaro. At 12 years old, Rita was baptized and became a lifelong member of First Baptist. She continued singing for the Lord in the Junior and Senior Choir, and also at many weddings. As a teenager Rita sang in the Interdenominational Angelic Youth Choir; as a young adult, the Kansas City Evangelistic Gospel Singers, the Family and Friends Choir, and with her sister and cousins as the O’Neel Singers at various church programs and musicals. Mrs. Lang worked in the First Baptist Church of Quindaro Mission Department and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Jennie N. Moore Chapter #50. Rita was married to Anthony E. Jones and to this union two sons were born, Antwan Jones and Leon Jones. This marriage was dissolved. Later, she and Robert C. Lang, Jr. were united in marriage and one son, Robert C. Lang III was born. Her employment consisted of H.J. Hodes Company, Ralph C. Johnson & Company, and AT&T where she retired. Mrs. Lang was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jr.; sons, Antwan and Leon; father Judge R. Norman Jr.; sister, Loretta E. Norman; brothers, Judge R. Norman III and Lonnie L. Norman. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted Mother, Loretta E. Norman; son, Robert III; bonus daughter, Carla Lang; grandchildren, Kenisha Davis, Antwan Jones Jr., Isaiah Jones, Avianne Jones, Talia McConnell and Robert C. Lang IV. Nieces, Kymberly Norman and Keinya Porter; Nephew, Michael Summers; daughter in love, Tamara McConnell and 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her special ride or die cousins, Jessie Barnett Ford, Janice Roland-Turner and Gisele Johnson; and a host of other cousins, friends and her Church Family. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, 11:00am at First Baptist of Quindaro, 3030 Farrow, KCK. Interment Old Quindaro Cemetery, KCK. Visitation will be from 9:00am-11:00am at the church. Service conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel, KS. Condolences may be shared on our website.
