M Gladys M. Jenkins

Obituary Mother Jenkins was born Gladys Mae Bledsoe to the union of David Bledsoe, Sr. and Goldie S. Bledsoe on July 7, 1932, the last of five children. She departed this life to be with her heavenly father on September 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years Earnest T. Jenkins, parents David Bledsoe, Sr. and Goldie S. Hudson, brothers David Jr., Dwight, and Ralph, sister Daisy Bledsoe, and her sister-like friend Lillian McKinney. Mother Jenkins was affectionately known as Jack or Mama, but the title she held most dear was Granny, the Matriarch of five generations. She received her early education from Attucks Elementary School and graduated from Sumner High School. After graduating, she began working in the coat industry with Rosewin Coat Company. She would work for them until they closed. Thereafter, she worked at Carver Christian Academy until she retired in 1986. Most will know her as being quiet and reserved. Others that truly knew her knew that she was loving, nurturing, and loved her children and grandchildren to life. She’d fight a brick over them with no hesitation. She was proud of each of her children, never judgmental, ALWAYS saw the good in them and wanted nothing but the best for them. Mother loved Mexican food, eating out, and playing pennies at the “Casina” (as she called it). Mother Jenkins began her relationship with the Lord at Greater Corinthian Non-Denominational Church under the leadership of Reverend Raymond Davis, Jr. until 1987. She then went on to join Love Fellowship Church under the leadership of Reverend Gus Franklin where she remained until her health began to fail. Once her health improved, her desire was to resume fellowship in the church. With the help of her daughter Linda, she began attending Bethlehem Kingdom Center under the leadership of Pastor Ray Mabion, Sr. where she remained until her untimely death. Mother Jenkins, aka Mom will always be remembered for her resilience and ability to overcome what started out being a difficult life, to become the most amazing, loving woman that worked hard for what she wanted, and loved her family unconditionally. She will be missed enormously by those that loved her unconditionally, her beloved children. Linda Jackson, Dracy (Bambi) Jenkins, Trent Jenkins, Dylon Troy (Candice) Adams, Raci Walker, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021, 1:00pm Bethlehem Kingdom Center. Interment Mon. Oct.11th, 9:00am Leavenworth National Cemetery, LVNKS.
