Mrs. Lovie (Carter) Bailey

Obituary Mrs. Lovie Beals Bailey, 91 passed away on August 25, 2021 in her Kansas City home where she has lived for 52 years. She was born on April 16, 1930 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Levi Carter and Rena Cheadle-Carter. Lovie grew up in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where she graduated high school. She became employed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as a clerk where she worked for over 30 years before retiring. After retiring from the CDC, she became a live in companion for a couple until their deaths. Lovie accepted Christ at an early age and was heavily involved in her church, Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church for over 45 years. She was a faithful member and tither. She received a plaque from the church as an inductee into the “Golden Circle Club” commemorating her 35 years of faithful and loving service which was presented to her in 2007. Lovie married Booker T. Bailey in 1997 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 24 years. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school children, singing in the Mass Choir, and the Ladies Chorus. She was also a Deaconess and member of the Mother Board. What she enjoyed the most was watching what she called “Bang Bangs and Shoot em Ups” which included television shows like The Lone Ranger, Perry Mason, Matlock. What she loved even more was watching the man she called “Curly”, who is none other than Patrick MaHomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Lovie was preceded in death by her husband Booker T. Bailey, her parents, Levi and Rena Carter; brothers, Luther Carter, Sr., Herman Carter; sisters Lula Gaddis, Beatrice Carter; Thera Carter (passed Aug. 28, 2021); daughters, Brenda Stewart, Marsha Marshall, Michelle Omordian; one son Kevin (Twin) Beals; granddaughter, Samantha Marshall all preceded her in death. Lovie is survived by her sons, Ellery (Charlesetta) Beals of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kenneth, a.k.a. Twin (Tiffany) Beals; two sisters, Theresa Johnson and Queen Ester Terry; 30 + grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a large host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service Friday, September 3, 2021, 11:00am at Lawrence A. Jones & Funeral Chapel. Interment Longview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-11am at the chapel.
