Ms. Labienus Brown

On July 1, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, LaBienus “Beanie” Brown was born to Mattie Brown where she was raised alongside her very protective brothers, Amos Doston and Lamar Brown, who both preceded her in death as did her beloved mother. Beanie went Home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026, while at Carnegie Rehab and Long-Term Care Facility of Kansas City, Missouri. From an early age, Beanie carried both strength and independence-qualities that would dene her life. Though she kept much of her personal story close to her heart, those who knew her experienced her steady presence, quiet resilience, and unmistakable one a kind humor. With a heart inclined toward caregiving, she was a graduate from Beaumont High School of St. Louis where she then pursued work in the healthcare field serving as a nurse technician in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Her professional journey included working in the Insurance industry with American Family and Commonwealth and later the Salvation Army, where she retired. In every place she served, she was respected, appreciated, a counselor and sounding board and genuinely loved. Though not formally a member of St. Paul AME Church, she remained faithful in her own way - attending services, tithing, serving and actively participating in church life. Her faith was expressed through action, generosity and commitment. She had a deep love for life and a personality that often revealed itself through subtle wit and dry humor- a humor that required you to listen closely and know her well. Her personality was magnetizing that anyone that came in her presence would share how much they enjoyed her and how she kept them on their toes. She was a master weaver of people-drawing lives together the way her hands creatively crocheted yarn into forms of art that she gladly shared as her ministry of a God given talent. Her gifted talent involved her self-taught ability of crocheting where every loop she orchestrated into a gift for family and friends. She leaves to cherish her life and memories: Lyde Doston, Sister-in-Law of Kansas City (Amos Doston); Lydia Owens -Niece, (Kelvin Owens) of Kansas City; Jonathan Doston -Nephew ( Ivy Doston) of Virginia; Great Nephews and Nieces, Essence Owens, Darrick Owens, Darius Owens, Daniel Owens, Alonzo Lozano and Zoe Doston. Special heartfelt memories shared by the Davis-McGraw Family. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, 10am at Greater Rising Star Church. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. Visitation from 9am-10am at the church. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel.
