Obituary Mrs. June Teresa Williams was born on January 4th, 1948 in New York, NY and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edna and James Griffin. June graduated from Washington Irving Highschool and entered the workforce in the medical field as a Unit Secretary for over 30 years for a number of hospitals. June moved to Kansas City, MO in 1975 with her family and committed her life to Christ. She found her calling, her passion for serving the Lord, and also found her Church home at Blue Hills Church of the Nazarene where she served under many capacities over the years. She worked the with children in the nursery, she was a Sunday school teacher, she served on the usher board for a period of time, comfort and care committee and also sang in the Morning “Early Bird” Choir. She enjoyed volunteering and helping others, making and collecting porcelain dolls, she loved a good movie, spending time with family, friends and the church. June loved the Lord and lived her life walking and serving in her faith. She was a living testimony, ready at any moment to share her story and show the goodness of God. To know her was to love her. The impact she left on this world is permanent, her loss will forever be felt. In the words of Maya Angelou: “When great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed”. June was called home on April 23rd, 2020 after a long battle with chronic illnesses at Medical City Dallas hospital in Dallas, TX. She leaves to cherish in her memory her daughter: Shayla Williams of Dallas, TX; grandsons, Torin Williams, and Damien Williams both of Kansas City, MO; granddaughters, Makayla Williams and Jordyn Nimrod both of Dallas, TX; great grandson, Chance Williams of Kansas City, MO; sister, Margaret Williams of Orlando, FL; brother, James Griffin of Roanoke, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Harold Williams; sons, Torin Shields and Damien Shields; sister, Patricia Atterbury; brother, Lewis Griffin. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Blue Hills Church of the Nazarene 10306 Blue Ridge Blvd. KCMO 64134. Visitation 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M.
