Birth and Early Life Of Johnnie B. Mitchell Our dear mother (Or “B” or “Miss Johnnie” or “Aunt Beasley” as she was sometimes called) was born on July 22, 1934, in Holly Grove, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Joe Johnson and Annie Snora Whitley. She was born with her fraternal twin, Mr. Lonnie Lee Johnson. From her earliest days, she shared a joyful heart and a gentle spirit. She showed kindness to everyone she met, setting the stage for the caring, generous person she would become. Those who knew her recall her warmth and generosity and her natural ability to make everyone feel included. Her life was filled with many challenges, but she did not let them sour her outlook on helping others. Her favorite color was purple, and she enjoyed reading westerns and watching old westerns on television. She is always remembered with deep affection by those who were fortunate enough to spend time with her. She married Elmer B. Johnson, son of Lefus Leroy Johnson and Jo Ella Thomas on Jun 28, 1953. He was born on May 06, 1933, in Holly Grove, Arkansas. He died on April 12, 1998, in Waterbury, Connecticut. She married Estil Mitchell Jr, son of Estil Mitchell and Georgia Mitchell on Feb 23, 1974, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on Jan 12, 1936, in Fulton, Missouri. He died on Nov 06, 2014, in Warrensburg, Missouri. Family Members Previously Deceased She is now reunited with treasured family members who went before her, and whose memories remain a cherished part of our family story. We find comfort in knowing they are together again, watching over us with love. He was born on January 12, 1936, and died on November 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, three sons, and two stepsons. She leaves behind two of her devoted children, Vivian (Jerome) Phoenix, AZ, and Theodis (Lottie) Peoria AZ; and four stepchildren Carolyn (Willie) Hopkins of Oklahoma City, OK, Debra Lee Dameron of Moberly, MO; Anthony (Stephanie) Mitchell Sr., of Sedalia, MO, and Dewayne Mitchell of Oklahoma City, OK. She leaves behind her loving sisters, Addie Lee Ellison (Chicago IL), Earnestean Johnson and Lowestean Johnson (both of KCMO). She was blessed with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and wonderful friends, all of whom feel honored to have shared in her life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day. Funeral services Saturday, August 16, at 10:00am at St. Mark's Baptist Church. Interment Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation 9:00am-10:00am at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
