PASTOR J.C. SLAUGHTER, SR.

Obituary Pastor J.C.Slaughter Sr. was born on November 11, 1934, in McCrory, Arkansas to Osborn Slaughter and Sallie Lucy Ramey Slaughter, he was the 8th born child of sixteen siblings and the third born son to this union. He is preceded in death by his parents The Late Osborn and Sallie Slaughter his brothers R.T. Sr., Louis Sr. and Clifton, and his sisters Annie, Lorene, Lois, Glady, Alice Marie, Emma Louise. His grandsons Emmitt (Teaspoon) Slaughter, Christopher D. (Lil C) Weatherspoon I, Great Grandson Master Darren Jay McDonald, and Great Granddaughter Dasha Nicole Slaughter-Gallop and a host of other relatives in the life of Eternal Bliss. Pastor Slaughter grew up in Woodruff County on his family farm in Riverside his father Osborn was a sharecropper and his mother Sallie was a homemaker. he often talk about that he grew up in a house full of love, and they all had a love for God and that he would wake up to the smell of fresh homemade biscuit and fried bacon and how his mother would cook breakfast lunch and dinner daily and how they all would work on the family farm together and love to attend church with his family at Morningview Missionary Baptist Church of McCrory, Arkansas, his journey with Christ begin an early and at the age of 15 he was baptized in a river by the church in Riverside and one of his favorite hobbies was singing in a quartet with his brother Clifton and they would sing in local churches and would travel to a nearby community to sing which he loves. Pastor Slaughter was educated in the McCrory, Arkansas School District attended elementary and high school. In 1954 he met and married Effie Mae Brown of Augusta, Arkansas and they were the proud parent of five children Ernest Lee, Sallie Eloise, Edna Earl, J.C. Jr., and Joyce Marie and they relocated to St. Louis, MO, and the marriage was dissolved and then he relocated to Fayetteville, NC, In 1959 he relocated to Kansas City, MO, and make it his home. he met and married Willa Mae Watson-Jones who help him raise his two daughters Sallie Eloise and Edna Earl along with her two children with the marriage later being dissolved. In the early sixties, Pastor Slaughter join the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of The late Rev. W.H.Whites where he was very active in Sunday School, Bible Training Union(BTU) he was very involved in church artillery and had a special spot in his heart for the mission and would hold a mission meeting at our house every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. with a light supper. God called him and he answers the call, and he studies and attended a seminary Calvary University formerly known as Calvary Bible College and he studies with his mentor and Friend the late Rev. W.H. White Sr. who he calls Dad Whites on October 23, 1966, he delivered his first sermon at 7:00 p.m. in the evening at Emmanuel Baptist Church 920 Olive Kansas City, MO 64127 under the leadership of the Late Rev.W.H. White Sr. and in August of 1968, he was ordained at Fredonia Missionary Baptist Church by the late Rev.H.B.Robertson. In 1976 he founded and pastor the Morningview Missionary Baptist Church for over 44 years and On October 23, 2020 Pastor Slaughter celebrated 54 years in the ministry. He retired from the ministry and move his membership to Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John L. Brooks where he loves to attend Sunday school and a member of the minister ministry and the brotherhood ministry and talk about the retreats he used to go on the brotherhood which he enjoyed. he loves the bible and he loves the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His work history started as soon as he landed in Kansas City started at Dick Smith Ford on Truman Rd and ending with a career with Montgomery Ward Store where he works for over 30 years of services where he retired from, and he will be miss by all who knew and love him. Pastor Slaughter leaves to cherish his memory his wife Roberta of 9 years of the home. His brother William Roosevelt Slaughter Sr.(Ernestine)of St.Louis, Mo. His sons Ernest Lee Brown of Muskegon, Michigan, Johnny Calvin Slaughter, Jr.of Arlington, Texas (Dorothy) John Washington of Kansas City, MO. His daughters Sallie Eloise Slaughter of Grandview, MO, Marjorie Mychel Jones and Edna Earl Slaughter-McDonald of Kansas City, MO Joyce Marie Slaughter of Chicago, Illinois, Step-Daughters Delores Woodard of Kansas City, Kansas and Maxine Wright of Kansas City, MO. Step-sons Larry Shelton of Houston, TX, His Brother in Law He was a Foster Dad to Darryl Bolden, Theresa (Terri) Bolden, David Bolton, James Gordon, and Kristina Gordan A host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. A host of Nieces and Nephews and cousins friends, his neighbors at D.A.Holmes Senior Estate, his church family, deacons and pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, Special Friends Pastor Gary Mason, Pastor Mark Weaver, Pastor Robert McClemore, Pastor Leslie and Sister Sims, His God Son Rev.
