Mr. Jasen Tatum

Jasen Devonte Tatum, 39, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Jasen was born to Bruce M. Tatum, Sr. and Sheryl R. Tatum on June 24, 1987. However, he lived many of his adult years in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He was the youngest of the four children born to Bruce and Sheryl. He was a man of passion and deep loyalty, especially to the things he loved most: music, sports, and his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and an unwavering spirit. Growing up, Jasen was a member of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ and confessed his faith in Christ at a young age. Jasen earned his GED from Marque Learning Center while living in San Antonio, Texas in 2010. Throughout his youth, he discovered and cultivated a love for creativity and artistic expression. Jasen’s heartbeat to the rhythm of hip-hop. He found joy in rapping and creating music, often expressing himself through powerful lyrics and unique and innovative beats. As a rapper, Jasen was known as “Baby Joker”. Whether on the court playing basketball or cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs from his favorite spot on the couch or at the game, Jasen brought energy and authenticity to everything he did. Jasen was unforgettable–not only because of his personality, but because of the energy and spirit he brought with him wherever he went. He was a fiercely loyal friend, and his circle was very tight knit. Perhaps his passion for his people was only surpassed by his passion for watching football, basketball, and wrestling. He especially enjoyed going to the stadium to attend Chiefs games with family. Jasen was preceded in death by his loving parents Bruce Sr. and Sheryl Tatum, brother Bruce M. Tatum Jr., sister Shamika R. Tatum; niece Brianna M. Tatum; maternal grandparents Walter M. and Mary R. Little; paternal grandparents James Tatum and Hattie Winston; uncle Walter M. Little Jr.; aunts Linda C. Ragsdale, Mary L. Davis; many paternal aunts and uncles. Jasen is survived by his beloved sister and brother-in-law, Shamille R., and Marcus B. Mack; nephews, Micah Mack, and Cayden Mack; niece Mila Mack; multiple cousins with whom he grew up very close with; and many other loving relatives and friends who will carry forward his memory and the joy he brought into their lives. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Interment: Highland Park Cemetery.
