Mr. James Williams

Obituary James Williams (Junie) was born on April 27, 1944, in Amory, MS. He will be joining his heavenly family, son, James Williams Jr.; parents, Henry and Mary L. Durham; and brothers Henry, Alfred and Anthony Durham who all preceded him in death. Junie was a kind, easy going and gentle soul. He attended Central High School in Kansas City, MO. He married Minnie Davis and they had (4) children in this union. He worked at Golden Ox and in various restaurants over the years. He retired through disability in 1998 and lived a life of leisure and pleasure. “Daddy was a great father and grandfather and he loved spending time with us , watching the KC Chiefs and Young and the Restless (which he called “the Victor Newman show”). He loved listening to the blues greats and dancing to the music” said Angela. He loved holidays and family gatherings and spending time hanging out with his brothers and now has joined them in heavenly glory to hang out with them forever. Junie moved to Kennesaw, GA. with his sister Gloria and her family in 2019 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He lived comfortably and peacefully under their care and enjoyed family vacations at the beach and doing arts and crafts with family during the pandemic, and with his great niece Josarah. Toni (his niece) and Josiah (his great nephew) helped to care for him on a daily basis. Junie joined his heavenly home on January 29, 2023 in Kennesaw, GA. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Angela Williams, sons Paul and Tyrone Williams, wife and lifelong friend, Minnie Williams, (2) grandchildren (Harold and Diamond Mitchell), all of Kansas City, MO., sisters Mary Lowrey and Linda Smith (Kansas City), Gloria Durham (Kennesaw, GA) and one brother, Lee Roy Williams (Kansas City), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, 1:00pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Private Disposition. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm at the chapel.
