Ms. Georgia Brown

Obituary Georgia Mae Brown, 72, passed away May 2, 2022, at 2:25 a.m. at St. Lukes on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born October 7, 1949, in Marvell, AK to George & Laura Bell (Frazier) Brown. Georgia moved to Kansas City in 1954. She attended Paseo High School in Kansas City, MO. As a single mother she raised three children while working various jobs. In 1985 she began her career at Ford Motor Company. She enjoyed her job at Ford because she worked with her daddy and many siblings. One of her proudest moments was getting her son hired at Ford in 1996. Georgia retired from Ford in 1999. After retirement she spent time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Georgia spent countless hours in the yard planting and gardening. She loved traveling, eating out, shopping, ceramics, and most of all spending time with her family. The family takes comfort in knowing Georgia was a true believer in Christ. She was baptized in the early 80's by Rev. Earl Ray. She joined Pilgram's Rest Missionary Baptist Church on July 2, 2006. Georgia was a people person, who loved to help others in their time of need. Even if she didn't have it, she would always find a way to help, often opening her home to family and non-family members to make sure they had a roof over their head. Her big, beautiful smile was contagious and will truly be missed. Georgia was preceded in death by her father, George Brown, daughter Laura Bell Mayo, daughter Barbara A. Mayo, grandson Michael E. Baker, Jr., brothers Robert Brown, Ben Brown, Fred Brown, and nephew Darrel Wright, Jr. She is survived by her mother, Laura Bell Brown of Kansas City, MO, son Alexander (Sarah) Mayo of Lee's Summit, MO, sister Manerva (Scott) Gregory on Kansas City, MO, brother George Brown of Kansas City, MO, sister Alice Wright of Kansas City, MO, sister Ruby Brown of Kansas City, MO, sister Denise Ward of Garland, TX, sister Sharon (Roderick) Holmes of Blue Springs, MO, and grandchildren Alexander Austin Mayo, of Northampton, MA, and David, Laura & Alexis Mayo of Lee's Summit, MO. She had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews; who include nephew Connie James, Jr., nieces Angela (Tommy) Williams and Vicki (Brad) Dawdy; niece Kameela Brown and nephew Robert Brown II, nephew Bryant Bush and niece Teresa White, nieces Yvonne Brown, Alice (Aaron) Bennett, Lola Brown, Sarah Brown, Benetta Kinney and nephew Jason Vaughn; nephew Don Wright and niece Donnesha Wright; niece Keisha Butler, nephew Darian Holmes, nieces Shantaja Heath, Cydnee Nevels, Sharel Heath, and nephew Laurel Heath III. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Luke's on the Plaza Cardiac Care Staff for the remarkable care given to Ms. Georgia Brown. We wish to acknowledge with sincere thanks and appreciation the many comforting messages, prayers, visits, and expressions of kindness during the homegoing of our loved one.
